AIIMS Delhi Opens PhD Admissions for Jan 2026
New Delhi: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi has invited online applications for admission to its PhD programmes for the January 2026 session. Eligible candidates can apply through the official AIIMS examinations website. The institute has released the notification outlining the important dates, eligibility criteria, entrance examination schedule, and selection process.
According to the official notification, the online application process began on January 12, 2026, and candidates can submit their applications till January 26, 2026. The PhD entrance examination will be conducted on February 7, 2026, in computer-based test (CBT) mode from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.
AIIMS Delhi offers PhD admissions in various disciplines including medical, nursing, and non-medical research areas. Admission will be strictly based on performance in the entrance examination, followed by further departmental evaluation and final selection as per institute norms.
For medical candidates, applicants holding qualifications such as MBBS, MD, MS, MDS, DM, MCh, or DNB are eligible to apply, subject to the minimum percentage criteria prescribed by the institute. Nursing candidates with MSc Nursing are eligible for admission to the PhD programme under the College of Nursing, AIIMS.
Non-medical candidates with a two-year Master’s degree, including MSc (except Nursing), MTech, BAMS, and BHMS, with the required minimum marks are also eligible to apply. The institute has clarified that degrees obtained through distance learning mode will not be considered for PhD admission.
The minimum duration of the PhD programme at AIIMS is three years, which may be extended up to a maximum of five years, with limited extensions permitted in special circumstances as per institutional rules.
