Education Minister launches BTech, PhD courses at IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi Campus

New Delhi : In a landmark step for international education collaboration, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan officially inaugurated new BTech and PhD programs at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi‑Abu Dhabi campus on 6 February 2026. The expansion includes programs in Chemical Engineering and Energy & Sustainability, aimed at equipping students with cutting-edge knowledge in science, technology, and sustainable development.

The initiative reflects IIT Delhi’s commitment to globalizing Indian higher education and providing students from India, the UAE, and other countries with access to world-class teaching, research facilities, and industry exposure. Speaking at the event, Minister Pradhan emphasized that these programs will cultivate a new generation of leaders, innovators, and researchers capable of addressing global challenges in energy, environment, and technology.

Alongside the academic launches, the minister inaugurated the first overseas Atal Incubation Centre (AIC) at the Abu Dhabi campus. This center is designed to support student-led startups, entrepreneurial ventures, and collaborative research projects, offering mentorship, funding opportunities, and a platform for international innovation. The establishment of the AIC marks a significant milestone in IIT Delhi’s vision to nurture entrepreneurship and innovation on a global scale.

The Abu Dhabi campus, a product of collaboration between the Governments of India and the UAE, is strategically positioned to serve as a hub for research, technology development, and cross-border knowledge exchange. The newly launched programs are structured to integrate advanced coursework, practical laboratory exposure, and research-driven projects, ensuring students gain comprehensive expertise in their respective disciplines.
