NIT Delhi PhD Admission 2026 Open for Spring Semester; Apply Online Before December 8
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Delhi has released the official notification for PhD Admissions for the 2025–26 Spring Semester, inviting applications from eligible and motivated candidates seeking to pursue advanced doctoral research. The admission process is open to applicants from a wide range of academic backgrounds, including Engineering, Applied Sciences, Humanities, and Management, reflecting the institute’s commitment to interdisciplinary research and academic excellence.
As per the official announcement, interested candidates were required to complete their online application process by December 8, 2025. The selection procedure included a written test and/or research presentation followed by a personal interview, conducted by the respective department’s admission committee to evaluate candidates’ academic performance, research aptitude, and subject knowledge. Applicants were expected to possess a relevant Master’s degree with a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale, although specific eligibility criteria could vary depending on the department and specialization.
NIT Delhi offers multiple modes of doctoral study, including Full-Time PhD, Part-Time PhD, and Self-Financed PhD programmes, enabling flexibility for working professionals as well as full-time research scholars. Part-time applicants are generally required to be employed in recognized organizations or institutions that support their research activities. Selected candidates gain access to advanced research infrastructure, experienced faculty supervision, and a strong academic ecosystem that encourages innovation and scholarly contributions.
Financial assistance opportunities are also available for eligible full-time research scholars through schemes such as the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme and other fellowship programmes, which may provide monthly stipends, contingency grants, and research support.
